Athlete of the Week

The men's soccer team is not out of the woods yet. Not after losing its first two Ivy League games of the season, with games against Brown and Yale still to come.

But this past weekend, thanks to junior forward Mike Nugent, the men's soccer team may have gained something as important as any league win — confidence.

With crucial contests against Seton Hall and Ivy rival Brown coming up this week, Princeton scored a huge 1-0 win over Harwick. It was Nugent's goal — at 15 minutes, 33 seconds into the game — that helped take the pressure off the Tigers and eventually provided the final margin of victory.

The goal was Nugent's second game-winner in as many games for Princeton. Last Wednesday, his second-half tally helped break a 1-1 tie against Fairleigh Dickinson in a game the Tigers went on to win, 2-1.

The Princeton striker now has a team-high seven goals on the season, including two in the Tigers' Sept. 17 win over William and Mary. Nugent has also recorded the game-winning goal in each of Prineton's last four victories.
