News and Notes: USG elections see larger voting turnout than in recent years

2704 students have cast votes in the Winter 2014 Undergraduate Student Government elections, according to voting website Heliosvoting.org as of 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

This figure compares with 1981 students in the Winter 2013 elections and 2351 students in the Winter 2012 elections.

Voting ended at noon on Wednesday, outgoing USG president Shawon Jackson '15 said in an email.

Members of the Class of 2018 have cast 616 ballots, compared with 744 members of the Class of 2017,764 members of the Class of 2016 and 580 members of the Class of 2015. 389 seniors voted, 511 juniors voted, 529 sophomores voted and 552 freshmen voted in the 2013 November elections and 453 seniors, 628 juniors, 626 sophomores and 644 freshmen voted in the 2012 November elections.

Election results will be announced on Friday.
