Princeton must do more in its Indigenous advocacy efforts

“As it stands, the University is doing nowhere near enough to educate its community about the Indigenous land it stands on or the Lenni-Lenape people native to it. Equally so, Princeton is not providing sufficient Indigenous educational resources to its full capacity.”

Hawaiʻi is not and will never be your vacation ‘paradise’

“About 10 million people visit Hawaiʻi each year. That’s more than seven times Hawaiʻi's entire residential population. This is not sustainable: non-Native people need to stop coming to Hawaiʻi.”

Banning books is detrimental to intellectual growth

“A myriad of books in the world today capture both the good and the bad of life, from joy and accomplishment to death and grief. Having the opportunity to freely read these books and thoughtfully explore the ideas they express allows us to come away with meaningful, valuable insights about ourselves and the world around us.”

Exoticism, misrepresentation, and Native Hawaiian culture: The problems with ‘Gilligan’s Island’ and ‘Hawaiian’ themes

“Although Native Hawaiian culture being used for ‘party’ spectacles has been heavily normalized, this doesn’t make it acceptable.”

The need for the mask mandate and an improved outlook on COVID-19

“So, for the sake of our community, we must remember that the pandemic hasn’t reached the point where those who contract COVID-19 will face minimal disruptions in their day-to-day life. And with this outlook in mind, we must consider more preventative measures and safety accommodations.”

Spotify spreads COVID-19 misinformation: We must hold the platform accountable

“As daily consumers of content from distribution platforms like Spotify, Princeton students must recognize the importance of holding such platforms and their creators accountable.”

Princeton needs more flexible enrollment for writing seminars

“All in all, the prominent negativity surrounding Writing Seminars is a dire issue — one that considerably impacts first-year students and a student’s relationship with writing. While there are many things to consider, creating an add/drop policy or making writing seminars more flexible should not be impossible.”

An issue bigger than the ‘Princeton plague’: Getting sick at Princeton means a lack of support for its students

“Furthermore, students who are sick — especially those who find themselves sick in circumstances that seemingly do not leave room for accommodation — are not asking for anything unreasonable, or even for a ‘free pass’ or ‘an easy way out.’ They are asking for the well-deserved time to recover, so they are able to return to class in proper health.”

Native Hawaiians deserve to be seen, too

Native Hawaiians should not have to carry the weight of advocating for ourselves and our history alone. With Hawai‘i being one of the fifty states, our past should be common knowledge.
