Women's Lacrosse: Harvard hands team 1st Ivy League loss, 9-8

With just under three and a half minutes remaining, sophomore midfielder Charlotte Davis found the net, bringing the No. 12 women’s lacrosse team within one goal of Harvard for the first time since the opening minutes. Harvard gained control of the final draw and began playing keep-away in their offensive end, hoping to hold onto the 9-8 lead as the final minutes ticked away.

Men's Lacrosse: Playoff hopes remain after 8-4 victory

With every game left on the schedule like a playoff for the men’s lacrosse team, the Tigers traveled to Foxboro, Mass., to take on Dartmouth in the New England Lacrosse Classic. They left Gillette Stadium with a much-needed 8-4 win, keeping alive their hopes of an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament and improving their position for the Ivy League Tournament.

After a midweek game against Hofstra was rained out, the softball team will play what amounts to a quadruple-header this weekend. Princeton (13-17 overall, 4-4 Ivy League South) will travel to Philadelphia to take on the University of Pennsylvania (10-16-1, 2-6) in a pair of doubleheaders spread out over three days.

Tennis: Princeton plays for Ivy title

The No. 58 men’s tennis team faces Columbia on Friday and then will travel to Ithaca, N.Y., for a showdown against No. 50 Cornell with an Ivy League championship and an undefeated season possibly on the line. The Tigers (12-6 overall, 5-0 Ivy League) hope that they can finally win an Ivy League match by more than the smallest margin of victory, having defeated Penn, Brown, Yale, Dartmouth and Harvard by identical 4-3 scores.

Men's Lacrosse: Postseason hopes on the line in Foxboro

Though it has often seemed on the verge of collapse, the men’s lacrosse team is alive — just barely, but alive and kicking. After dropping to 1-5 at the midseason mark with five season-ending injuries and eight others that have caused players to miss time, the Tigers have rallied, defeating Brown 5-4 in overtime, losing a tight contest 7-5 to No. 1 Syracuse and overcoming a five-goal deficit on the road to defeat Rutgers 11-10 on Tuesday.

Column: Patriotism and baseball across the Pacific

Sporting events usually tend to have little significance for the outside world. Column: NBA playoff teams looking for ‘Love’

Last year around this time, I wrote a column breaking down the NBA playoff teams into groups based on why they could or could not realistically win the title. This year, I took the same idea and added silly emasculating references to “Love Actually,” which I currently consider my sixth favorite movie (the list is in flux, although the top three of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” “The Boondock Saints” and “The Shawshank Redemption” is pretty tough to crack). Men's Lacrosse: Comeback keys 11-10 victory

The men’s lacrosse team took a short bus ride to Piscataway, N.J., yesterday to face in-state rival Rutgers. Going into the game — which was delayed for an hour and 15 minutes due to lightning — the Tigers (3-6 overall, 1-2 Ivy League) had won their last five games against the Scarlet Knights (5-6) by an average margin of 4.3 goals. Princeton continued its winning ways last night and edged out the Scarlet Knights 11-10.

With the weather warming up and the sun shining, the No. 59 men’s tennis team (12-6 overall, 5-0 Ivy League) defended its home courts at Lenz Tennis Center by defeating Dartmouth (11-6, 2-2) 4-3 on Saturday before grinding out a 4-3 win over Harvard (13-9, 2-2) on Sunday to remain perfect in league play.

Golf: Hosts tie for 3rd place at weekend’s Princeton Invitational

The men’s golf team hosted the Princeton Invitational tournament at Springdale Golf Club this past weekend, finishing tied for third place in a field of 12 teams. This finish was the Tigers’ best in three years at this tournament. Yale finished in first place in the tournament, Penn finished in second at six strokes behind Yale, and the Tigers tied with Georgetown for third place, 37 strokes behind the leader.
