The football team will play its last home game of the season against Yale this Saturday. As Senior Day, as well as the annual homecoming game of the Big-Three rivalry, this game is one that the team’s veterans have been looking forward to for a long time.

As the men’s ice hockey team enters its third week of regular-season play, it hopes to reverse the tide of its opening games. The Tigers captured their only win a week ago at Harvard, when sophomore forward Eric Carlson helped cap a first-period advantage. As Princeton prepares to host St. Lawrence tonight at 7 p.m. and Clarkson tomorrow at 4 p.m., the Tigers must not only take more early leads, but also use their most recent away game against Dartmouth as a reminder to follow through on early advantages.

Men's Basketball: Henderson ’98 era begins on Saturday

The last time the men’s basketball team was in game action, it was under the bright lights of the St. Pete Times Forum against an eventual Final Four team in the NCAA Tournament. That was a different team, a different season, with a different head coach. On Saturday, the Tigers will take the floor again, as the tenure of head coach Mitch Henderson ’98 begins back home at Jadwin Gymnasium against Wagner.

Fall Break was not particularly eventful in Chevy Chase, Md., a suburb of Washington, D.C. Born and raised in the area, I will gladly praise the nation’s capital as one of the best cities in America. But, thanks to Princeton’s Office of Poor Vacation Scheduling, I now know that ridin’ solo in any city is not nearly as fun as Jason Derulo makes it out to be. Without my party-rocking high school crew, all of whom attend universities with reasonable Fall Break schedules, the energetic city I have grown to love was as entertaining as deriving the Slutsky equation.

Sprint Football: Questions surround program’s future

In the first game of the 1999 season, the sprint football team did something that it hasn’t done in an official game since: win. Following their 12-7 victory over Cornell at home, the Tigers dropped the next five games of the 1999 campaign. The next season, they went winless again. And then again. And then again. Since that fall day, the Tigers have dropped 80 straight official games.

How do you follow a historic season?Coming off a 25-7 campaign that included the program’s first Ivy League title in seven years, two comeback victories in the final week of the season, a buzzer-beating playoff victory and a last-second loss in the NCAA Tournament, it seems almost impossible for the men's basketball team to match last year's excitement. The 2011-12 Tigers, led by new head coach Mitch Henderson ’98, will instead form their own identity in an increasingly competitive conference.

Field Hockey: Tigers win in double OT, draw UConn in NCAA Tournament

Seventy minutes of regulation and 15 minutes of overtime were not enough to decide the NCAA Play-In Game on Tuesday afternoon, as the field hockey team and Rider remained in a scoreless tie. Four minutes into the second overtime period, however, senior midfielder Alyssa Pyros sent a penalty corner in toward the top of the circle, where freshman midfielder Sydney Kirby was waiting. Kirby sent a hard shot into the cage, clinching an NCAA Tournament bid for the Tigers with a 1-0 sudden-death victory at Class of 1952 Stadium.

Men's Water Polo: Navy gets revenge in Southern final

The best way to describe East Coast water polo is inconsistent, and this year has been no exception. Despite ending the regular season atop the league standings, the men’s water polo team finished the season in second place after losing 16-5 to Brown at the Ivy League Championships. The Tigers then went 2-1 this weekend at Southern Championships, No. 15 Princeton will enter Eastern Championships as the Southern Division’s No. 2 seed.

Women's Soccer: 3-1 defeat at Penn brings season’s end

Last week, the women’s soccer team finished the season with split games between Ivy League leaders Cornell and Penn. The Tigers hosted Cornell for a 1-0 shutout victory in their final home game of the season. Princeton then traveled to Penn, where they fell to the Quakers 3-1 to cap a tough Ivy League campaign.
