Women's Hockey: After tough early slate, Princeton resumes ECAC play

The women’s hockey team opened the 2012-13 season with a front-loaded schedule, facing five top-10 ranked teams in the opening six weekends. Princeton (4-6-2 overall, 1-5-2 ECAC) has been more successful so far against non-conference competitors, but this weekend it has an opportunity to turn its conference season around when it faces off against two ECAC rivals at Baker Rink on Friday and Saturday.

Women's Hockey: Tigers split series with No. 8 Ohio State

The women’s hockey team was searching for a breakthrough victory as it headed into a back-to-back series with No. 8 Ohio State (11-5). Princeton (4-6-2) was coming off a tough 1-2 overtime loss to No. 3 Clarkson and had not fared well against ranked opponents, having been shut out 4-0 by then No. 2 Cornell and losing 9-1 to then No. 9 Harvard. The Tigers dropped the first match last Friday to the Buckeyes 4-2 despite holding a 2-0 lead at the start of the third period but came back on Saturday to win 2-1.

Already one-third of the way through its regular season, the women’s hockey team has had an up-and-down start to the year. Princeton (3-5-2 overall, 1-5-2 ECAC), after a win and a tie the previous weekend, dropped two conference games. Friday night, Princeton hosted ECAC rival St. Lawrence (7-6-1, 5-1) and lost 2-6. The following afternoon, No. 3 Clarkson (12-2, 6-0) skated to a 2-1 overtime victory to remain unbeaten in conference play.
