Column: Hall spurs memories of 2-way star

On Sunday, Washington Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall amassed an incredible four interceptions in a single game. This tied a long-standing NFL record, first set by another Redskin who played seven decades ago. That other player set the record in November 1943, in a game during which he also threw four touchdowns in a 42-20 victory.

Women's Tennis: Bartlett-Marable duo places 2nd

As the trees on Princeton’s campus changed color and most students crammed for midterms, the women’s tennis team competed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regional tournament at Dartmouth. Despite struggles in the singles draw, the team saw a string of successes in the doubles draw that nearly saw the Tiger duo of junior Hilary Bartlett and senior Taylor Marable take the tournament.

It was cold and cloudy in Cambridge, Mass., on Sunday as the crews returned to the water in force, navigating the winding Charles River for the annual Head of the Charles Regatta. Women's Volleyball: Pair of Ancient Eight road games ends in split for Princeton

The women’s volleyball team learned the hard way this weekend that you can only win the close matches so many times. After beating Penn in five sets in its league opener and sneaking past Harvard in a thrilling 3-2 comeback win, Princeton’s fortunes reversed this weekend when the Tigers (11-7 overall, 6-1 Ivy League) suffered a heartbreaking 25-15, 20-25, 23-25, 25-21, 17-15 loss to Columbia (12-6, 4-4) on Friday afternoon. Princeton handled its nerves better on Saturday, however, and won three hard-fought sets in a 25-23, 29-27, 25-21 sweep of Cornell (4-14, 2-6). The victory over Cornell earns the Tigers at least a share of first place in the Ivy League standings after the first half of the season.

Sprint Football: Navy's defense too much in defeat

Following a disappointing performance last week at Army, the sprint football team knew it would have its hands full again Friday as it traveled down to Annapolis, Md., to compete against the Midshipmen of Navy. The Tigers (0-6 overall, 0-4 Collegiate Sprint Football League) have not been able to score a point against Navy (4-1, 2-1) since their meeting in 2004, and Friday night’s 67-0 loss marked the Orange and Black’s 13th consecutive defeat to the powerful Midshipmen.

Field Hockey: Women suffer shutout loss to Penn State

As has become a recurring theme this season, the field hockey team initially found success against an Ivy League opponent before falling to a ranked non-conference foe. The Tigers (11-4 overall, 5-0 Ivy League) beat their archrivals Harvard (3-11, 1-4), posting a 4-0 shutout on Saturday for Alumni Day. On Sunday, however, Princeton fell 1-0 to Penn State (12-4) due to a last-minute, game-changing goal.

Football Analysis: Dixon steps up to fill void, provides offensive output

Entering its homecoming game against Harvard, the football team had plenty of questions on the offensive end. Princeton struggled mightily to move the ball after junior quarterback Tommy Wornham left last week’s game with an upper-body injury, which would keep him out of Saturday’s contest as well. But senior Andrew Dixon led the Tigers to 28 points, their highest total in regulation since 2008.

Men's Soccer: Tigers excited for national spotlight

Some people will do anything to get on national television. They’ll dress up like lunatics and warble through an “American Idol” tryout or pretend their son is stuck in a giant balloon. All that the players on the men’s soccer team will have to do is play their game against the Harvard Crimson (4-4-5 overall, 1-0-2 Ivy League) on Sunday in a match that will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
