Men's Lacrosse: Hopkins will be tough test for Tiger squad

The annual battle between men’s lacrosse powerhouses Princeton and Johns Hopkins has turned into one of the great collegiate rivalries — one that will be renewed on Saturday. The teams first battled in 1890, and even though the No. 8 Blue Jays (3-0) lead the series 54-26, two of the last four matches have ended in overtime. Princeton has won the series for the last two years.

Softball: Tigers hope to rebound

If the softball team’s weakness last season could be summarized in one word, it would likely be “injuries.” The Tigers failed to reach their full potential throughout most of the season at the plate, on the mound and in the field due to the sheer number of players out of commission.

Baseball: Tigers pin hopes on youth

In 2010, the baseball team won barely one-quarter of its games and finished last in the Ivy League at 6-14. With a lineup and pitching staff that will be dominated by underclassmen, few teams face more uncertainty than the Tigers do entering the new season. But senior left-handed pitcher David Palms likes what he has seen so far.

Men's Squash: Bulldogs squash Tigers' title hopes in semifinals

In a three-shift squash match, losing two matches in the first round digs a team into an early hole. Losing all three matches in the first shift can make that hole seem to be the Grand Canyon. But in each of its final two matches of the Potter Cup, the men’s squash team found itself facing this predicament and emerged from one of the contests with a win and the other, a loss.

Women's Lacrosse: Team drops Johns Hopkins in season-opening thriller

In an exciting, back-and-forth game on Saturday, the women’s lacrosse team (1-0) opened its season with a 9-8 victory over Johns Hopkins (2-1) on Powers Field at Princeton Stadium. The game was predicted to be very close — last year’s game went into overtime before the Tigers pulled out a 10-9 win, and last week’s Inside Lacrosse poll ranked Princeton No. 19 and Johns Hopkins No. 20.
