The men’s and women’s fencing teams had their first head-to-head competitions at the Vassar Duals on Saturday. The women’s team went a perfect 5-0, winning each match by more than 10 bouts, while the men went 4-1. And the wrestling team lost its fourth straight dual match on Saturday, falling to Rider 32-11 despite victories from two freshmen

Women's Hockey: Princeton splits series at Baker Rink

The women’s hockey team earned half of the points it had aspired to this past weekend when it hosted two ECAC rivals at Baker Rink. On Friday evening, the Tigers (5-7-2 overall, 2-6-2 ECAC) shut out Union 3-0, keeping the Dutchmen winless in conference play. The next day, Princeton fell to Rensselaer 4-3, handing the visitors their first ECAC win of the season. Remaining in the middle of the conference pack, the Tigers must continue fighting for every point in their upcoming games to guarantee themselves a spot in the eight-team league play-offs.

Women's Basketball: Hosts show off depth in 93-46 rout of Retrievers

The women’s basketball team left little drama to the outcome of its game against University of Maryland, Baltimore County on Sunday afternoon. Princeton (5-2) scored the game’s first 22 points while keeping the Retrievers off the scoreboard for nearly 10 full minutes, eventually prevailing 93-46 for head coach Courtney Banghart’s 100th victory.

The women’s basketball team led another strong performance at Jadwin Gymnasium on Thursday night, beating Rutgers for the first time since Jan. 5, 1978, in a 71-55 blowout. The Tigers outpaced the Scarlet Knights from the onset of the game, leading by 16 points at the end of the first half and never letting go of the lead.

Men's Basketball: Comeback junior Barrett reaches new level

One year ago today, junior forward Will Barrett limped off the court with an injury that would keep him away from not only basketball for an entire year but from school as well. Doctors informed him he had fractured his navicular bone, located just above the big toe. Barrett’s season was over, and his playing career was in jeopardy.Less than 12 months later, Barrett hit a game-icing three-pointer to seal a 57-53 victory in the Tigers’ 2012-13 debut on Nov. 10. During his first game back from the injury, Barrett led all Princeton scorers with a career-best 20 points while also chipping in team highs of nine rebounds and three blocks.

Women's Hockey: After tough early slate, Princeton resumes ECAC play

The women’s hockey team opened the 2012-13 season with a front-loaded schedule, facing five top-10 ranked teams in the opening six weekends. Princeton (4-6-2 overall, 1-5-2 ECAC) has been more successful so far against non-conference competitors, but this weekend it has an opportunity to turn its conference season around when it faces off against two ECAC rivals at Baker Rink on Friday and Saturday.

Women's Hockey: Tigers split series with No. 8 Ohio State

The women’s hockey team was searching for a breakthrough victory as it headed into a back-to-back series with No. 8 Ohio State (11-5). Princeton (4-6-2) was coming off a tough 1-2 overtime loss to No. 3 Clarkson and had not fared well against ranked opponents, having been shut out 4-0 by then No. 2 Cornell and losing 9-1 to then No. 9 Harvard. The Tigers dropped the first match last Friday to the Buckeyes 4-2 despite holding a 2-0 lead at the start of the third period but came back on Saturday to win 2-1.

This year’s men’s and women’s fencing teams have a lot to live up to, with last year’s teams winning Ivy League championships and finishing second at the NCAA National Championships.
