As we debate war and peace in safety, we owe it to ourselves and to our country to learn more about the troops we send to war and about what happens to them both when they get there and when — if — they come back home. “Support the Troops Week” is above all a chance to learn.

The development of broism is a topic that, while pertinent to day-to-day life, has no thorough treatment, leaving older generations in the dark about the frequency of brocurrances and the magnitude of the current brosade.

In support of marriage equality

Fortunately, Velandia and Vandiver are not alone, and I applaud the efforts of the Princeton community to petition the Department of Homeland Security to reconsider this policy, as well as the efforts to call on Congress to enact the Respect for Marriage Act which would grant federal recognition to the same-sex marriages officiated by state governments, just as opposite-sex marriages are recognized.

A classroom community

I realized that I had never experienced the sort of community that I enjoyed in this physics class in a philosophy class — or any other non-math or science class here, for that matter.

Major consistency

As incoming freshmen, students are told they don’t declare a major until the end of sophomore year. Though the form is submitted then, students must make many decisions about majors before that point. This practice is reasonable, but there is a troubling inconsistency across departments.

Editorial: Centralized room evaluations

Just as the registrar was required to step in to fill the gap left by the student course guide, the housing department should fill the gap left by the student room guide by creating a centralized room evaluation system to provide more access to information about rooms.

My opinion on Opinion

I’m simply here to share my thoughts in this formal, public forum. It doesn’t matter if I purport to speak from anything more than my own perspective, because the utility of the opinion section is not in the rightness of the submission but, instead, in the act of expressing and sharing reasoned personal beliefs with the general public.

Keep the artifacts as they are

Returning treasures to their original context is unfeasible; too much has changed physically and culturally over time for them to speak more clearly in their country of origin than they do in museums, where they can be compared to large assemblies of objects from a variety of cultures. In the advanced world of the 21st century, looting and stealing artifacts should be eliminated altogether — even for the sake of preservation, but the returning of already acquired artifacts should not be expected.

This isn't 'that' column

Writing for the ‘Prince’ is like participating in a big precept discussion. Should I ask this question? I hope it’s not too obvious. Should I say I agree with this? What if everybody disagrees?
