'Builderers' secretly scale University towers

The Princeton Buildering Society (PBS) breaks the rules every time its members meet. Buildering — the act of climbing on structures like buildings, poles and statues — has occurred on Princeton’s campus for decades. Every brick scaled and every tower reached, though, marks a violation of the University’s Environmental Health & Safety guidelines, which state that “the use of University structures for ‘climbing’ is prohibited.” The practice, however, survives.

Letter of withdrawal from Nick DeBerardino '11

I feel it necessary to explain my position in the chaos that has been this USG election, and I want to express my rationale behind withdrawing from this Vice-Presidential race. First and foremost, I would like to congratulate Sophie Jin for her wise decision to call for a revote ? there was unquestionably unfairness and illegitimacy to the first Vice-Presidential election, largely due to the actions of just a few members of the previous USG administration. To those who jeopardized the credibility of the entire USG in order to mislead the student body in the first election, I can only voice my extreme disappointment in their judgment.

Katz aims to form Wilson School task force in Cuba

Professor Stanley Katz wants to give Wilson School concentrators, whose academic careers often involve studying abroad, the opportunity to travel to the nearby nation. The U.S. government has imposed strict restrictions on travel to the country since the 1960s. Katz’s proposed task force would send junior Wilson School concentrators to La Universidad de la Habana beginning in February 2010. Princeton is currently finalizing an agreement with the university that would permit the program’s implementation.

Trustees approve a 2.9 percent increase in tuition, fees

The cost of attending Princeton University will increase by 2.9 percent next year, the smallest such raise since 1966, the University announced last week. In an effort to allay the financial stress on students and their families in this uncertain economic climate, the undergraduate scholarship budget will be expanded by 13 percent to help offset the 2.9 percent fee-package increase for students currently on financial aid and to assist students in next year’s expanded freshman class.
