At the Nov. 10 USG meeting, members of the Senate unanimously approved the language of all five ballot referenda proposed for the Winter 2024 election. Students will be able to cast their ballots for these issues between Nov. 25 and Nov. 27.

Pennsylvania Senate seat called for David McCormick GS ’94 ’96, riding red wave

Republican David McCormick GS ’94 ’96 defeated three-term incumbent Democrat Bob Casey on Nov. 7 according to an AP election call, bolstering the Republican majority in the Senate with a flipped seat in Pennsylvania. McCormick led the race by only 0.5 percent, or 30,000 votes, as of Thursday night.

Princeton’s University Health Services (UHS) is hosting two days of onsite dental care during the Fall 2024 semester following student requests. All 40 slots almost instantly filled up, and there are plans to expand the program into the future.

A proposal amending the Rules and Procedures of the Faculty to allow for remote voting on measures that pass, but have six or more faculty objections, passed at a Nov. 4 faculty meeting 124–82–3. Six faculty unsuccessfully objected to the measure, which is now up for a vote of the entire faculty.

In the run up to election day on Tuesday, several campus groups announced that they would provide wellbeing-related resources for students across campus. The University Health Services held “Post-Election Listening Circles” and The Princeton Environmental Activism Coalition, alongside Sunrise Princeton, held an “Art Build” event at Campus Club.

Princeton eliminates $45 fee for dropping courses after add/drop period

Undergraduate students no longer have to pay the $45 fee to drop a course after the add/drop period ends. The add/drop period allows students to adjust their course schedules until mid-September. After that, they can still drop a course until the ninth week of the term, previously with a $45 fee. The final date to drop classes this semester is Friday, Nov. 8.

Princeton Municipal Court will hold another pre-trial conference on Dec. 10 to set a trial date for the Clio Hall protesters. During a hearing today, defense attorney Aymen Aboushi requested a re-evaluation of a plea deal that would have allowed six of the protesters to plead guilty to a municipal noise ordinance, but the request was definitively rejected.

The “drunk meal” food truck outside of Frist Campus Center was quietly discontinued this semester due to slow sales. However, “drunk meal” inside of Frist continues to only operate on Saturdays, with the only late-night dining options available to students on Thursdays and Fridays being the U-Store and Studio 34, which close at 2 a.m., and Wawa, which is open 24 hours.

Even though most international students, who make up 12.7 percent of Princeton undergraduates, cannot vote, many of them still sense the stakes of this election. “You’re not just voting for yourself,” one student told the ‘Prince.’ “You should think of not only yourselves, but think of others.”
