The women’s volleyball team showed their strength over their Ivy League competitors this past weekend, facing Columbia on Friday and Cornell on Saturday and settling the weekend 2–0.

This past weekend, the women’s volleyball team (14–5, 7–1) remained undefeated at home. The Tigers faced Penn (5–14, 2–6) for the second time this season in a 3–0 (25–16, 25–16, 26–19) win. During this match, the Tigers had three players reach double-digit kills. Juniors Devon Peterkin and Maggie O’Connell each had 11 kills while sophomore Alexa Underwood also played a strong role for the offense with 10 kills. Defensively, the Tigers didn’t give in to the Quakers, with Peterkin leading the way with nine digs, while freshman Cameron Dames added eight. Junior Jessie Harris continued to set up the offense with 40 assists in this match, keeping her spot as the Ivy League leader in assists.

The women’s volleyball team played a first-place showdown this past weekend against Cornell, while also adding a league game against Columbia. Princeton and Cornell are two of the three teams who, as of last Friday, had winning records in the Ivy League.

The women’s volleyball team (1–5 overall, 4–1 Ivy League) had a split weekend as it played Dartmouth (6–9, 2–3) and Harvard (7–7, 2–3), both on the road. The Tigers took the game against Dartmouth in three sets last Friday (25–18, 25–16, 25–17).

In the days to come, the women’s volleyball team has a tough schedule as it face Brown (7–4 overall, 0–1 conference) this evening, Sept. 28, and Yale (7–3 overall, 1–0 conference) tomorrow, Sept. 29. Last season, the Tigers beat Brown 3–0 both times that they played, and they went 2–1 against Yale in their three-game matchup throughout the season.

In November 2017, the Princeton women’s volleyball team won its third straight Ivy League Championship. While it was initially tied with Yale for the Ivy League title, a tiebreaker game allowed the Tigers to clinch the outright title and advance to the NCAA tournament, where they fell to Iowa State in three sets. Coming off of an 18–8 overall and 10–4 conference record, the Tigers are hungry for the same success.

With the NCAA tournament still on the top of its mind, the Princeton men’s tennis team (16–9 overall, 1–2 Ivy) went up against two top-50 teams as it continued its Ivy League play. At their Ivy home opener on Friday, April 6, the Tigers defeated Cornell (7–9, 0–2) 4–3 in multiple close matches.

After coming off of a 4–3 loss at Penn State, the Princeton men’s tennis team (15–7) traveled to Florida over spring break to compete in its final series of matches before Ivy League play begin this weekend. The 46th-ranked Tigers faced the 40th-ranked University of Central Florida (9–6), University of South Florida (11–7), and Florida Gulf Coast University (5–9).

Princeton’s track and field teams showed their abilities two weekends ago at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships. The men’s team finished first of eight teams and the women’s team finished sixth of the eight teams, creating much excitement for the upcoming outdoor season. Here’s a recap of how the teams did:

The Princeton women’s water polo team (4–4) kicked off its season at the Arizona State Challenge the weekend of Feb. 2, with interim head coach Rebecca Dorst filling in the big shoes of Luis Nicolao. The team faced four nationally ranked teams: Arizona State, University of California San Diego, Loyola Marymount, and University of Hawaii at Mañoa and finished the weekend 0–4. Recovering from the tough weekend, the Tigers hosted the Princeton Invitational during the weekend of Feb. 17. Finishing the weekend 3–1, the Tigers beat George Washington, Iona, and Villanova, but faced a tough defeat against the Chinese national team.

This weekend, from Feb. 16 to Feb. 18, the Princeton women’s water polo team (0–4) will be hosting the Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool. The last time that the Tigers hosted this invitational was in the 2016 season, when they faced two different teams (Cal Baptist and Cal Lutheran) and two returning teams (Villanova and Iona). During this three-day invitational, Princeton will play host to a variety of teams, including the Chinese National Team, George Washington, Iona, Wagner, Harvard, Bucknell, Marist, and Villanova.
