The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Tuesday that a suspect has been charged with luring and harassment for approaching two University students last month and attempting to solicit a sexual act.

Dimario Wynter, 28, a Lyft driver from Spotswood, N.J., was identified as the suspect. A Lyft spokesperson wrote in a statement that “the driver has been permanently removed from the platform.”

Wynter was charged with third-degree luring and harassment for his interactions with both students and a disorderly persons offense for trying to solicit a sexual act from one of the victims.

The incidents were first reported to the University community through a TigerAlert notice on April 20. On April 16, Wynter allegedly stopped a student on Prospect Avenue, asked for directions, and gave her a $100 bill before demanding a sexual act. The student “dropped the money and fled the area,” according to the Prosecutor’s Office press release. The incident occurred around noon, and the suspect was driving a black Jeep Patriot.

The following day, around 9:30 a.m., Wynter allegedly approached another student on Ivy Lane, asked for directions, and gave the student a $100 bill. The student gave the bill back and the suspect left.

In a May 1 alert, the Department of Public Safety shared that the suspect had been apprehended. Wynter was arrested at the Princeton Police Department on April 30 according to the press release.

The release noted that Wynter was identified as a driver for Lyft through an investigation by PSafe Detective Martin Krzywicki.

Wynter has been released “pending future court appearances,” according to the release. Casey DeBlasio, the Prosecutor’s Office’s Public Information Officer, told the ‘Prince’ that “there are no scheduled court appearances at this time.”
