Two of the signers of the full-page advertisement supporting the University’s proposed construction of the Arts and Transit Neighborhood and moving of the Dinky in the April 15 Princeton Packet were fictional characters, according to a Letter to the Editor published by the Packet on Thursday.
The letter — from Herbert Hobler ’44 of Skillman, N.J. — points out that both Ephraim Di Kahble and Joe Oznot were fake University students created by enrolled undergraduates in the classes of 1939 and 1968, respectively.
“Ephraim was created by my late brother-in-law Bud Redpath ’39 and noted ’39 member Freddy Fox,” Hobler said in the letter. “A book could be written about the exams he took and the reunions he ‘attended’ over the years.”
Oznot “also performed similar and different shams as a student,” Hobler added. “Indeed, ‘he’ took tests and applied to and was accepted by Princeton as a student!”
