According to a recent post on CBS’s MoneyWatch.com, the University has the second best four-year graduation rate for private colleges in the United States.
Princeton, with a 90 percent graduation rate, is ranked behind Williams College, which has a 93 percent graduation rate.
According to the post, private universities and liberal arts colleges boast the highest four-year graduation rates both because the students who attend these schools are high achievers and because the institutions themselves are among the wealthiest. Thus, private universities are able to offer their students more resources than state colleges.
Of the nation’s public universities, the United States Naval Academy has the highest four-year graduation rate with 86 percent of students graduating on time.
However, according to the most recent U.S. News and World Report rankings, Princeton falls behind both Williams and Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering in a three-way tie with Yale and the University of Notre Dame.
