News & Notes: Three engineering professors elected to National Academy of Engineering

This announcement, which confirmed 68 new members and nine foreign associates, brings the total U.S. membership and foreign associate numbers to 2,290 and 202, respectively.

Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions awarded to an engineer. Academy membership is offered to those who have made contributions to “engineering research, practice or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature,” and to the “pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education,” according to NAE’s announcement.
