Sophomore Bernie D’Amato led the team by coming in a four-way tie for individual fifth place, finishing at 2 over par.
“Tied for third is a great team performance,” D’Amato said. “It shows our team is getting to where it needs to be for the Ivy League championship in the spring. Coach [Will] Green is very pleased with the way we are finishing tournaments, and we are all pleased to be in contention during the final round.”
The Tigers beat out the rest of the Ivy League teams in the tournament, with Yale just four strokes behind. The Bulldogs finished tied for fifth place.
Junior Chase Lovett-Woodsum had the next best performance for the Tigers, finishing in a tie for 16th place with a two-round score of 5 over par. Junior Evan Harmeling tied for 23rd with a 7 over par.
“Two weeks ago we got lapped by most of the field at Northwestern,” senior Eric Salazar said. “It was great that we rebounded so well this weekend. I’m really proud of the team and how hard we’ve fought all year.”
“The team is really coming together,” he added. “We each place a huge amount of trust in each other, and this trust has contributed to our success thus far. We have a lot of momentum going into our last event of the fall. We’ve proved to ourselves and to the rest of the Ivy League that come spring and the Ivy League championship, we’ll be the team to beat.”
Next weekend the team will travel to Charlestown, R.I., for the Northeast Invitational, its last tournament of the fall season.
