The women’s swimming and diving team, along with appropriately named junior Megan Waters, is just about unbeatable in the water. Waters recently picked up two individual victories against Columbia to help seal an undefeated season for the Tigers. She has also set a Princeton record in the 50-meter freestyle at 22.83 seconds and claims four All-Ivy honors. Even as a freshman, Waters had already made it to the conference team and competed in the individual championship finals in the 50 free.
Q: What was your “welcome to college” moment?
A: I came back from Outdoor Action to find that my roommate had already set up the room. I was like, “I would give you a hug, but I smell really bad.”
Q: What’s the greatest highlight of your sports career?
A: I think it was last year at our Ivy League championships when we got to the last relay. We were losing to Harvard — well, we lost the meet to Harvard — but we rallied in our last relay and I split the best time of my life and caught us up to the Harvard team.
Q: Who’s your quirkiest teammate? Why?
A: I’d have to say myself — I’m pretty quirky. I don’t know; I’m very sexually explicit.
Q: What has been your most embarrassing moment at Princeton?
A: Freshman week last year, I thought this freshman was really cute and I was really ... influenced ... so I went up to him and I was like, “I don’t date boys, I just screw them.” I’m dating him now, actually, but it didn’t work out then.
Q: What’s the best part about being an athlete on campus?
A: I can tell when other people are athletes just by looking at them.
Q: What’s the worst part about being an athlete on campus?

A: I don’t think athletes get enough credit. I feel as if we have a double schedule compared to other students. I wouldn’t say that we necessarily have it harder than others, I would just say that athletes are often misunderstood.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not practicing?
A: I like to play Sudoku.
Q: What’s your funniest story about your head coach, Susan Teeter?
A: That’s tough. She’s not really the funny type. She is awesome — she just doesn’t do anything that’s completely out of the ordinary. I think the men’s head coach, Rob Orr, is ridiculous, though. To hype us up for the Harvard-Yale-Princeton meet, which is pretty much our biggest meet of the year, he dresses up sometimes and puts on skits to bash Harvard and other schools.
Q: Is there any music in particular that inspires you?
A: It depends what race I’m about to swim. If I'm about to do my best race, then I don’t listen to music. But if I'm about to do a race that I’m nervous about, then I’ll listen to Fort Minor or Eminem.
Q: What’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod?
A: I’d have to say “My Dick” by Mickey Avalon.
