Football: Culbreath inspires bone marrow drive

Today, the Princeton Varsity Club and Be The Match will jointly host a bone marrow registry drive at Frist Campus Center.

The registry drive, which is sanctioned by the National Bone Marrow Registry, will be held in the Frist Multipurpose Room from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with no appointment necessary.

The drive, organized by Caitlin Alev ’10 and Emily Tiernan ’10, is in honor of senior football co-captain Jordan Culbreath, whose season was cut short this September when he was diagnosed with aplastic anemia.

Culbreath and countless others face dangerous complications from their condition if they cannot find compatible marrow transplant donors, but 70 percent of those afflicted do not find suitable matches within their families.

The registration process for committed potential donors is simple: Prospective donors need only to complete a cheek swab and some obligatory paperwork.
