Bradley named coach after Sell resigns

Former University of Miami assistant coach Megan Bradley replaced Kathy Sell as the head coach of the women’s tennis team. Sell announced June 17 that she would step down from the post so she could move to North Carolina and be closer to her boyfriend and immediate family.

“I’m just really excited that I get to be a coach at such a prestigious university with a great athletic tradition,” Bradley said in a statement. “I know the team is really good, and Kathy Sell, the former coach, did a great job of establishing the program. I just hope that I can come in and really take the program to the next level.”

An alumna of Miami, Bradley played three seasons for the Hurricanes. She began her collegiate career at UCLA. After college, she played professional tennis, ranking in the world’s top 200.

“Megan was a great college player, an outstanding student, and has been a terrific ambassador for the game of tennis,” Director of Athletics Gary Walters ’67 said. “We believe that Megan’s appointment will result in a seamless transition for our women’s tennis players.”

Sell said her decision to retire came from a desire to “move forward with my life.”

“Princeton has afforded me an excellent coaching education and incredible relationships with student-athletes who I will continue to follow and support,” Sell said in a statement.

Sell had a record of 63-41 during her five years at Princeton. This past spring, she led the women’s tennis team to its first Ivy League championship and NCAA tournament bid in nine years.

Walters called Sell “a terrific coach and ambassador for Princeton tennis.”
