Q: What was your “welcome to college” moment?
A: My “welcome to college” moment happened during the first week of classes, when my writing seminar professor e-mailed us Friday night to go buy a book and have finished it by Monday.
Q: What has been the greatest highlight in your sports career?
A: The highlight of my sports career was winning the eighth-grade recreational basketball playoff championship. It’s just a one of those “anyone can join” leagues, but it’s the last real championship I’ve ever won.
Q: Who is your quirkiest teammate and why?
A: My quirkiest teammate is probably [pitcher] Langford Stuber. He’s got all these weird superstitious rituals he goes through before he pitches.
Q: What is your most embarrassing moment?
A: The most embarrassing moments of my college career happened in the same place. Freshman year, I made four errors in a game playing shortstop at Harvard, and just last weekend I went one-for-10 at the plate in a 17-inning marathon against them.
Q: What is the best part about being an athlete on campus?
A: The best part about being an athlete on campus is knowing that I’m always going to get a few hour[s] break during the tough school day to focus on something I truly love.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do when not practicing?
A: My favorite thing to do when I’m not playing or practicing is probably to lie on a couch and watch TV.

Q: If you could play any other sport, what would you play?
A: If I could play any other sport, it would definitely be basketball. I played a little in high school and miss that high-paced, competitive atmosphere.
Q: If you were a coach for a day, what would you do?
A: If I were my coach for a day, I’d probably shoot paintballs at all my players until they learned how to hit. Our team is in the worst slump of all time.
Q: What is your favorite class taken at Princeton?
A: The best class I have taken at Princeton was MAT 190: The Magic of Numbers simply because it was the easiest. Chapter 1 of the textbook was called “Simple Counting” — no joke.
Q: What music do you listen to in order to get inspired?
A: The “Rocky IV” soundtrack inspires me, specifically the lyrics to songs like “Eye of the Tiger,” “Sweetest Victory” and “Burning Heart.”
Q: What is the most embarrassing song on your iPod?
A: The most embarrassing song on my iPod is probably something by the Jonas Brothers, but that’s only because someone put it on my computer. The most embarrassing artist that I listen to is probably Leona Lewis.
