On the men’s side, two Princeton runners qualified for the NCAA Regional, which will be held on May 29 and May 30 in Greensboro, N.C.
Senior Michael Maag, a consistent distance runner throughout his four-year career, broke the finish line first in the 1,500m run, clocking in at three minutes, 46.53 seconds. Freshman Trevor Van Ackeren also qualified for the NCAA Regional with a 9:02.84 finish in the steeplechase.
The Tigers also fared well in the shorter races. Sophomore Mike Eddy won the 400m dash in 47.51 seconds. Eddy was successful in the 200m dash as well — his 22.11-second finish was a career best.
In the 800m run, junior Ben White and senior Collin Plummer crossed the finish line in second and third place, respectively. And in the 10,000mrun, junior Tim Branigan claimed third place with a time of 30:53.01.

But the highlights in the field events came on Saturday afternoon, when junior Ian Fox and senior Alex Pessala dominated in the high jump and hammer throw, respectively. Fox recorded a season-best jump of 2.04 meters.
Pessala cleaned up in the hammer throw — his 67.29-meter attempt ranks second in the nation this year. His throw set a Princeton record and was the second-best throw in Ivy League history. His closest competitor, Karl-Erik Ludvigsson from Manhattan College, recorded a throw of 62.57 meters.
The women also had several key first-place finishes, and sophomore Ashley Higginson qualified for the NCAA Regional. On Friday, Higginson finished second in the 5,000m run with a time of 16:42.09. She finished slightly behind Aileen Conlon of the Nike Central Park Track Club, who clocked in at 16:35.77.
