A: Our assistant coach at the time was [former] national champion Troy Letters, fresh off his senior season [at Lehigh]. During a practice early in my freshman year, he scored a bunch of points against me without using his hands. It was pretty embarrassing.

Q: What is the greatest highlight of your sports career so far?

A: Without a doubt, my greatest highlight is winning our first dual meet as a team in my time here this year against Franklin & Marshall. To finally pull through and win as a group was really rewarding.

Q: What is your funniest story about a coach?

A: My assistant coach, Andy Lausier, is an intimidating [six feet, three inches and] 215 pounds … We found out he gets more excited than his wife when his new issue of Us Weekly arrives, and his favorite movie is “Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins.”

Q: Who is your quirkiest teammate? Why?

A: It’s a tie between [freshman 149-pounder] Daniel Kolodzik and [freshman 184-pounder] Kurt Brendel. Kolodzik sleeps in bushes and never wears socks, while … Brendel is a robot with an inner monologue.

Q: What has been your most embarrassing moment?

A: Running into my team at the movie theater while they were going to see “Role Models,” and I was with my girlfriend at the time going to see “Bolt.” I still hear about that all the time.

Q: What’s the best part about being an athlete on campus?

A: The best part about being an athlete on campus is the several hours a day during which I can forget about school, work and everything else. I love showing up to practice and just being able to focus on wrestling.

Q: What is the worst part about being an athlete on campus?

A: The hardest thing about being an athlete is just balancing all your schoolwork with your athletics. It consumes so much time and energy. Hitting the books while cutting weight after a tough practice is definitely the toughest part.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not practicing?

A: Dominating everyone on my team in Mario Kart.

Q: If you could play any other sport, what would you play?

A: I loved football in high school and would love to have continued playing, but being 5’11” and running about a six-second 40 really killed that dream.

Q: If you were a coach for a day, what would you do?

A: Have a cheesesteak practice. It’s been a running joke on the team since I’ve been here, but we would all come down at 4:30 [p.m.] and eat cheesesteaks.

Q: What is your favorite class at Princeton?

A: [ECO 324:] Law and Economics with … [economics lecturer Thomas] Leonard. He is the best professor I’ve had here. I really recommend taking any of his classes.

Q: What is your pre-match ritual?

A: After weighing in, I eat a raisin bagel with cream cheese, three cups of Gatorade and a handful of craisins. Then, right before going onto the mat, I slap each coach’s hand as hard as humanly possible.

Q: What music inspires you?

A: I don’t really listen to much music before my matches, but I love the days .in our wrestling room when there’s some country music blasting.

Q: What’s the most embarrassing song on your iPod?

A: A Mike Jones CD.
