In addition to giving non-varsity athletes a chance to play sports, the intramural program also proved that it can help a good cause. The Tiger Trot for Hunger, which had 188 participants from around campus, raised more than $350 for the Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton.
The top time in the Tiger Trot went to junior Timothy Branigan, who clocked in at 13 minutes, 57.4 seconds in the 5K race. Second place went to senior Richard Andrews, who had a time of 14:08.4. In third was senior Kyle Smith, with a time of 15:04.7. Seniors John Taggart and Tom Yersak finished fourth and fifth with times of 15:07.8 and 15:16.5, respectively.
Basketball
The three-on-three basketball finals took place in Dillon Gym on Wednesday night. In the Men’s A finals, Cap & Gown Club forfeited to the Flying Squirrels. In the CoRec B final, Colonial-CoRec faced off against GC Awesome Dangerous. Awesome Dangerous lived up to its name, felling Colonial 38-12. The Men’s B semifinals featured GC Harmon tipping off against Club Lacrosse. Lacrosse will head to the finals tonight, as it beat Harmon, 15-14.
The other Men’s B semifinal will take place tonight, with Plug Flow battling it out against Wilson. The finals will immediately follow the second semifinal, with the winner of that matchup taking on the Club Lacrosse team.
Indoor soccer
The indoor soccer finals were also held Wednesday evening. In the CoRec A finals, Forbes took on Ivy, and the residential college showed its mettle, winning 1-0 in overtime. Cap & Gown the hit the floor against Brown Coop in the CoRec B finals. It was an intense matchup. With the score tied at one at the end of regulation, the game went to overtime. When neither team could solve the others’ defense in the first overtime period, a second sudden-death overtime followed. The members of the Brown Coop prevailed in the end, winning the game and the championship with a 2-1 victory over Cap.
In the Men’s B finals, Caspian took on GC Belson. Belson dominated the game, winning 4-2. In the Men’s A final between the GC Sultans and FC Fine the GC Sultans took home the title with a 3-2 victory.
Tonight will also feature a broomball tournament at Baker Rink, which is cohosted by Campus Recreation and the Colisseum Club. The tournament is first-come, first-serve, so teams should arrive at Baker Rink by 9:30 p.m. at the latest.
