A: My parents dropped me off, and I immediately started to cry. My new teammate, [junior] Marlowe [Boukis], was there, and we just laughed at how pathetic we were. She gave me a hug, and we went out to explore campus. That was the beginning of college.
Q: Greatest highlight in your sports career?
A: Last year, we won the Princeton [Invitational] with a school-record-breaking tournament score. Not only was it fun to break the record, but it also was our first tournament with our new coach. It was a great beginning to both our season and her career.
Q: Quirkiest teammate? Why?
A: It is not possible to name one. We play women’s golf — we all have to be somewhat quirky.
Marlowe loves show tunes. She will not withhold from singing them very loudly … anywhere (airports, vans, during card games).
[Freshman] Kate [Scarpetta] is very into yoga. She even made a yoga music mix so that the whole team could listen in the van.
[Freshman] Rachel [Blum] somehow finagled her way into getting the team invited to go lawn bowling with the world champion lawn bowler. Who thinks to do that?
[Sophomore] Michelle [Grilli] doesn’t seem to know some very basic things about life. She refuses to acknowledge that she knows any Christmas carols. We all know she is Jewish, but really, every kid knows one Christmas carol.
[Freshman] Maggie [Boberg] is one of those girls who color codes her notes. You gotta make fun of that.
Q: Embarrassing moment?
A: This summer, I traveled to Asia with a group of college golfers. Because karaoke is such a big deal over there, our coach decided to take us to a bar in Korea to check it out. Somehow, I was voted into going up on stage and singing “Eye of the Tiger” to about 40 to 50 Korean businessmen. The experience was almost as bad as my performance.

Q: Pre-game ritual?
A: I’m kind of crazy about this. I’m assuming that most athletes are.
Warmup consists of hitting every odd-numbered club. I work my way up from my gap wedge to my driver, until I have hit at least three perfectly solidly with each. I then move onto the putting green. I putt for a little, and then mark my golf balls. Marking my balls is a pretty complex routine. I reach into my bag and grab a random-colored sharpie. I never choose the color; I have to randomly pick one. I then mark three balls exactly the same. Once they have dried, I place them into my pocket. I then reach into my pocket and grab one ball. This is the ball I will play with for the whole day.
Q: Inspiring music?
A: Miley Cyrus — “See You Again.” Our team is near obsessed. Ask Michelle to sing it, she’s pretty good.
Q: Most embarrassing song on your iPod?
A: “Oats and Beans and Barley” [by] Raffi. You never can get too old for Raffi.
