Senior forwards Darroll Powe and Grant Goeckner-Zoeller are members of the men's ice hockey team.
Welcome-to-college-sports moment?
GGZ: I guess it was the first weekend of our freshman year, on the road against St. Cloud on Halloween. They had about 10,000 fans there so it was a bit of an eyeopening experience.
DP: One of our first practices, where we were just scrimmaging, and a couple guys bumped into each other, and the gloves dropped, and they had a little scrap. That's kinda the moment I realized it was a little more intense and fast-paced than junior hockey.
Greatest highlight in sports?
GGZ: Beating Cornell at home, as part of a big sweep, getting a little recognition in the league.
Quirkiest teammate? Why?
GGZ: Max Cousins, because he can always make himself laugh.
DP: There are a lot of characters on the team, but the guy who probably sticks out for being a character is Kevin Westgarth. He's always got his opinions and likes to express them.
Embarrassing moment?
DP: This year my two biggest hits were probably against [sophomore Lee] Jubinville (Ed. note: Jubinville is the team's smallest player at five feet, eight inches and 160 pounds) and [sophomore Brett] Wilson.
Best part about being an athlete on campus?

GGZ: Having the campus all to yourself when everyone else is at home.
DP: Definitely being able to go down and hang out with the guys every day. During all the bad times, the guys are always there to crack a joke.
Worst/Hardest part about being an athlete on campus?
GGZ: Trying to explain to your JP adviser why you can't meet.
DP: Balancing the schoolwork. After a long day of practice, sometimes you just don't feel like hitting the books.
Favorite thing to do when not practicing?
DP: Bunch of guys on the team started a Sunday bowling league that we're all pretty excited about. It's a chance to let loose and take your mind off school and sports.
Other sport you would play?
GGZ: Probably Lacrosse.
DP: My favorite sport for a long time was baseball. My uncle was the head of Baseball Canada, so I was heavily influenced there. But I definitely like the physical nature of hockey.
Did you have any sports idols growing up?
DP: Growing up, my uncle was younger and still kind of playing and living with us so he would always take me out to the outdoor rinks, so he was someone I always looked up to.
Favorite class taken at Princeton?
DP: AST203, the Universe. I've always been interested in that sort of stuff.
Favorite thing to do on the Street?
GGZ: Eat.
DP: I always like sitting out on the balustrade at Cottage with a few buddies, cause we don't get that much time to go out.
Teammate you're most glad isn't playing for the other team?
DP: That's tough to say; we've got a lot of good players. But I'd say the most intimidating guy is Kyle Hagel. He just gets a look in his eye that scares me sometimes, even when he's on my team.
Dream job after graduation?
DP: Anything with hockey would be awesome.
Canadian accent or American accent?
GGZ: It might be nice if we had a couple more Americans in the locker room.
