As our tenure as sports editors of the 130th Board comes to a close, we are in quite the reflective mood. We have poured more energy into this section than any one of us could have imagined when we learned a little over a year ago that there was no one else who could possibly run The Daily Princetonian's sports section.
Some doubted that the sports section would even come out every night this year, and we are proud to say that we proved those doubters wrong.
But before we turn the paper over to those eager, up-and-coming sports editors of the 131st Board, we want to continue the tradition of Prince sports editors imparting to our readers the lessons we have learned, the wisdom we have gleaned, the strange and interesting experience we have had and the memories that will never be forgotten. So without further ado...

Invest yourself in something, and turn that thing into something that you are proud of. Don't leave Princeton without having put your stamp on something.

Here is a two-sentence summary of the column we always planned to write, but never did: Beirut is a far better game than robo. It has a flatter learning curve, is much more challenging and hitting the last cup is far more rewarding than hitting the final pitcher. Bring on the emails.

Yelling the words: "Kav!" "Chan!" or "Nancy!" is the only thing that kept a sports section coming out each day. That's not actually true, but they deserve to hear it for all the grief we gave them.

Hell hath no fury like a swim team scorned.

Actual quote from football head coach Roger Hughes that would have gotten him fired if Princeton were a Big Ten school:
"I've hired a couple sniper rifles in the stands."
(In reference to how the Tigers would stop Harvard running back Clifton Dawson.)

News is not really good for anything. Anything. They especially suck at having fun and playing base-10 Beirut.
:::::
A copy editor has no idea of the meaning of the word "quick" or "efficient," much less how to do work quickly or efficiently, but we love them nonetheless.
:::::
Storming Yale's field, having a bonfire and winning a football Ivy League Championship is a perfect combination to cap off fall of senior year.
:::::
Not that this should come as a shocker to anyone, but damn, there are a lot of crazy people with access to the internet — and we at the 'Prince' Sports section get mail from every single one of them.
:::::
Notre Dame football fans really do not like it when you run columns talking about how overrated their team is and poke fun at the team in the annual joke issue. And apparently a lot of Notre Dame fans read the 'Prince.'
:::::
There's a reason wine comes in a box: so you can get sloppy. There's also a reason why it actually comes in a bag: so you can get sloppier.
:::::
Apparently, however, certain officers at the Charter Club hate to have boxes of wine in their club after 11 p.m.

Sometimes people at Princeton are a little too modest. If any of your friends are on the following teams, take a moment and congratulate them on being the reigning Ivy League champs: men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, men's squash, baseball, women's basketball, men's cross country, women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's golf, women's hockey, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and softball.
:::::
Never forget that the benefits of studying exhibit declining marginal returns. Skip that last chapter of history reading and get outside, throw a football, take a road trip, carry an enormous snow boulder into your common room and throw it on your roommate's head; just don't wonder where those four years went.
:::::
Finally, we would not be here if it were not for the work of those who came before us: Andrew and Joe; Anuj, Sarah, the two Zacks and even Thad; and of course Dave, Stirling, Anna and Dan.
Thank you for all your hard work, for somehow dragging us into the 'Prince' sports family and for setting the bar so high.
:::::
To Karl, Trent and Ashley and the rest of the 131st board, we wish you good luck. You're going to need it.
