Junior Meredith Lambert has been running well in practice all season, but she has still been unhappy with her race day execution. At the Mt. Sac Invitational in Los Angeles on Friday evening, though, Lambert was able to follow her race plan exactly and even ran slightly faster than she had hoped, placing ninth in the 10,000-meter event.
Going into the event, Lambert planned to run each lap in 82 seconds and finish in 34:10. She bettered this goal with a new personal record of 33:55 and also automatically qualified for the NCAA championships. Her previous personal best was 34:24, set at the same meet last year.
Two members of the men's team also traveled to California. Junior Frank Macreery placed 17th in the 10,000m race with a time of 29:17, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA championships. Though he was disappointed to have missed the automatic qualifying time by just 17 seconds, Macreery said he was happy with his performance. The time was a personal record by 31 seconds.
Senior Austin Smith took 10th place in the 5,000m race in 14:10 and qualified for NCAA regionals.

The rest of the men's and women's track teams did not have to travel nearly as far for their Saturday competition. The women visited Philadelphia to face Penn and Yale, finishing third with 47 points to the Quakers' 84 and Elis' 72.
Meanwhile, the men's squad stayed in Princeton, hosting Penn, Rutgers and Villanova in a quad meet at Weaver Track. Though team scores were not kept, several athletes' performances qualified them for NCAA regionals.
Senior Mike Weishuhn placed first in the high jump with a height of six feet, 10.75 inches, successfully qualifying for NCAA regionals. Sophomore Andrew Park also qualified with a 16'10.75" in the pole vault. He earned first place in the event, while junior teammate Kyle Whitaker placed third.

Senior Carrie Strickland qualified for NCAA regionals in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:45, which earned her third place.

Senior Amy Krilla placed in two events, finishing second to teammate Brooke Minor in the high jump and winning the javelin throw. Minor jumped 5'5" in the high jump, while Krilla jumped 5'3". Krilla's winning throw went a distance of 143 feet and qualified her for NCAA regionals.
Junior Cack Ferrell took second to Yale's Lindsay Donaldson in the 1,500, running 4:29.66 to Donaldson's 4:29.24.
