With a forecast calling for sun and temperatures in the 60s this weekend there will be no excuse to not go out and enjoy one of the three crew races Princeton teams will be competing in here in New Jersey.
Both the open women and lightweight men's teams will be at home Saturday while the women's lightweight team will be competing in Camden, N.J. The heavyweight men, the only team headed out of state this weekend, will be in Cambridge, Mass.
Women's open hosts Yale
Lake Carnegie will be the site for five women's and five men's races Saturday morning.
The women's open team will host Yale in the first races beginning at 9 a.m with the second novice boats. The solo match with Yale concludes with the first varsity boat race at 10:20 in which the Eisenburg Cup will be at stake.
Princeton won the Cup last year in the teams' race in New Haven.
Men's lightweight hosts two
Following the women's open races will be the lightweight men, who host Rutgers and Cornell. The first race is at 10:40, and the event culminates with the first varsity eight race at noon.
The top Princeton men's lightweight varsity eight boat won the tri-team race last year in Ithaca.
Lightweight women in Camden
The women's lightweight crew squad will be racing Saturday and Sunday for the Knecht Cup in Camden at a course the team knows well for its status as the location of the Eastern Sprint Championships.
The women's lightweight team is anxious and excited to get back into competition after two weeks off, and the large field at the Cup will certainly provide a challenge.
Senior captain Lu Lu explained that there are often surprises in races that attract many teams to the Knecht Cup, but that she expects Radcliffe and the University of Wisconsin to be in the running for the win.
The Radcliffe team is coming off a victory over the Rhode Island Rams at their first home race of the season.
The Princeton women won the Knecht Cup a year ago with an exciting win over Harvard by 0.4 seconds in the varsity eight grand final.
Heavyweight men in Cambridge

Men's heavyweight crew will have to travel the farthest for its weekend competition as they drive to Cambridge to face Harvard and MIT for the Compton Cup. The men are also expecting a strong showing from both opponents this weekend.
The Tigers are entering the race with what has thus far been a stellar season under their belts, but the seasoned defending national champions at Harvard always put up a good fight, and they have home water advantage this weekend.
The Harvard heavyweight men competed against Brown last weekend in Providence to win the Stein Trophy for the fourth year in a row, and have a distinct advantage in experience over the relatively novice Princeton team.
Head coach Curtis Jordan said he is eager to see what effort his young team can muster against Harvard.
The heavyweight men lost the Compton Cup for the second straight season last year at Lake Carnegie.
