Last night, senior forward Andre Logan, whose quickness and cutting ability has immeasurably helped the men's basketball team in the opening of its season, was placed on the injured reserve list indefinitely once again this season, according to a source connected to the team.
Logan was seen yesterday with a wrap on his left thumb, as he was having another teammate hand in his papers for him. Doctors are currently unsure whether the injury will require surgery.
"He seems to have torn all the tendons in that thumb as well as some muscles," Logan's physician, Dr. Tyne Newcastle, commented. "I'm not sure, but I'd say it's more than likely he'll need surgery to repair it along with months of physical therapy before he can ever use it again."
Dr. Newcastle, who specializes in sports medicine, refused to comment about how the injury occurred.
The Prince got a chance to talk to Logan before he left for a much-needed vacation in Argentina.
"I don't know what happened," Logan said in an interview. "One minute, I was playing Playstation 2 and boom, my thumb just wouldn't work anymore."
It was reported that Logan's injuries were the result of playing "Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Rescue" with his 28-year old girlfriend's 13-year old daughter.
The experts on video game related injuries have found evidence that this particular video game has caused numerous injuries of the like, due to its use of the left thumb to push the key to make Barbie ride faster and more vigorously. The muscles, tendons and bones become so strained that they snap like a rubber band stretched too far. All in all, the experts say that Logan was lucky not to have had his thumb actually fall off.
"In many cases, the thumb must actually be reattached because it winds up being totally severed," Dr. Miller G. Draught said.
Logan's last two seasons have also been plagued by injury, as the senior forward saw limited playing time in his sophomore and junior years after impressing many fans and reporters in his freshman season. This year also started late for Logan, after an injury to tendons in his hand following a New York Yankee win over the Boston Red Sox sidelined him.
Head coach John Thompson '88 could not be reached for comment.
This certainly does not bode well for the Tigers, who after a close loss to Minnesota on Saturday night face the start of the Ivy League season next. Against nationally-ranked teams Duke and Oklahoma, Logan brought a different dimension to the team, slashing to the basket and pulling up for the midrange jumpshot. With the Tigers aiming at an Ivy League championship this season by toppling the defending champion Penn Quakers, Logan will be sorely missed.

Senior guard Ed Persia, who has played with Logan since their freshman year, had this to say:
"Andre will sorely be missed on the court. His presence out there is palpable. But if he had to get injured, at least he got injured playing with a girl he loves."
