The Ivy and Cap and Gown clubs admitted 27 students during fall Bicker sessions, held this past week. Tower Club, which has held Bicker the last two years, will add new members through a petition process.
Ivy Club this fall saw 41 bickerees, 17 of whom were welcomed into the club's 2004 class.
"We had about 10 more candidates than we've generally had in the past, and we took more new members than usual as well," said Jerry Parker '03, Ivy Bicker chair.
During Bicker sessions in the spring, Ivy accepted 59 of 110 students that bickered.
Among the 37 candidates that bickered at Cap and Gown Club this fall, 10 were offered slots in the club.
"We are extremely pleased with the fall Bicker class," club Bicker chair Roger Hopkins '03 said in an e-mail. "They definitely add a lot to Cap."
During last spring's Bicker, Cap accepted 84 of the 158 who bickered.
Both Cap and Ivy followed suit in the spring, fulfilling their traditional roles as two of the most sought-after selective clubs on the 'Street.'
Tower Club, which has hosted fall Bicker sessions during the past two years, opted this year to implement a petition process.
After a large Bicker class in the spring, Tower officers chose to use the more informal petition process to fill the club's few remaining slots.
Voting will occur today, and the results will be announced tomorrow.
Fall Bicker is a smaller, less formal version of the Bicker process that several clubs use to admit new members in the spring. It gives upperclass students who may not have been admitted into the club of their choice in the spring, either through Bicker or sign in, another opportunity to vie for a position in a participating club.
