Ivy League Announces Television Package
HDNet, a high-definition television provider came to an agreement with Ivy League officials Jan. 7 to allow men's and women's basketball games to be broadcast via DIRECTV systems.
Co-founded by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Yale graduate Philip Garvin, HDNet has contracted with the league to televise seven men's and women's basketball games. According to a joint press release, the games will reach "more than 10 million homes across the country this winter."
The March 5 game between the men's basketball team and Penn will be co-produced and distributed by Philadelphia area cable provider Comcast.
Ivy League games were broadcast over DIRECTV systems in both the 1998-1999 and 1999-2000 seasons.
