JON PHARRIS — Men's Water Polo

Going into last weekend's Southern championships, the men's water polo team had not been playing up to its abilities. The Tigers had fallen in the semifinals to UMass a week before at ECACs and the Tigers were even having trouble at league weekends they had been accustomed to dominating.

For Southerns, however, senior goalie Jon Pharris finally took over a tournament and led Princeton to its first Southerns title in two years.

The weekend was highlighted by a 19-save performance in Princeton's 6-5 victory in the finals against Navy — a team that had won Southerns all but twice in the tournament's history.

Pharris limited the Midshipmen to a single fourth-quarter goal to hold on to the win and give Princeton the top seed at Easterns, Nov. 16-18 at home.

Now the Tigers hope that Pharris can continue his solid play.
