Two Tigers earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors this week as Theresa Sherry of the women's soccer team and Rachael Becker of the field hockey team received the award.
Sherry, a sophomore forward, scored three key goals in the past week. She curved in a corner kick to tie the score against William & Mary early in the week and then scored two important second-half goals to lead the Tigers past Brown on Sunday evening. Princeton remains undefeated in the Ivy League going into this weekend's tussle with Harvard.
Becker, a junior attack, scored four goals, two of which were game winners, in the Tigers' three games last week.
She now has six goals on the season and also earned ECAC Player of the Week honors for her efforts.
The ninth Infiniti Lacrosse Invitational returns to Princeton with a new look after a one-year hiatus. This year's event is scheduled for Sunday beginning at 10 a.m.
In a change from year's past, the 2001 ILI will be played exclusively at Class of 1952 Stadium and will feature four teams. Princeton and Delaware will play first at 10 a.m., followed at noon by Towson and Navy. At 2 p.m. Navy and Delaware will play, and at 4 p.m. Princeton and Towson will wrap up the tournament. No champion will be named, and all four games will be full-length. Admission will be $5, with all proceeds going to the John Schroeder '92 Memorial Fund, in memory of the Princeton defenseman killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.
Steve Goodrich '98, who finished last season as a member of the Chicago Bulls, was signed to a contract by the New Jersey Nets last week.
Goodrich is one of 16 players on the roster trying out for one of 12 spots on the team.
Final cuts will be made the day before the season starts, which will be Oct. 29.
