Presidential search committee forges ahead during weekend

During the presidential search committee's most recent meeting Saturday, the 18-member panel continued to discuss what characteristics would be desirable in the next University president, according to Paul Wythes '55, committee vice chair.

"We're just wrapping up the first phase — gathering input from outside the immediate range of the Princeton community," Wythes said. "We've been interviewing mostly academics to hear their views."

The committee has used the interviews to assess the University's needs and gather recommendations for possible candidates, Wythes said.

"Some of the people we've talked to have suggested names — you do come up with a list of names," Wythes said. "The next step is to hone down the list to some kind of manageable group."

The committee is on pace to meet its goal of completing the search in the late spring, Wythes said. "We're a tight-knit group," he said. "Everyone is participating, and we're moving forward."
