Athletes of the Week

In football's stirring 27-24 comeback win over Columbia last weekend, there was plenty of credit to go around. Particularly instrumental in the Tigers' first win of the season, however, were junior kicker Taylor Northrop and senior fullback Marty Cheatham.

Cheatham finished the game with 50 yards on five receptions, and while those statistics alone may not appear superlative, he saved his biggest catches for Princeton's final drive of regulation. Twice on that possession, senior quarterback Jon Blevins found Cheatham out of the backfield. The second reception of the drive put Princeton inside the Columbia 10-yard line and set up the game-tying touchdown.

That final drive, of course, would never have been possible without the efforts of Northrop, whose biggest contribution did not show up in the box score. With Columbia needing only to retain possession to seal the victory, Northrop executed a picture-perfect onside kick that was recovered by Princeton, keeping the comeback alive.
