Julia Beaver

When Katherine Johnson '97 graduated last year, the women's squash team lost its leader and star. Johnson had been a mainstay atop the Tiger lineup since her freshman year and capped a tremendous career by winning the individual national championship last season.

But if freshman Julia Beaver sustains the level of her early-season play for the next four years, she may leave Princeton as decorated a star as Johnson.

The Tiger No. 1 downed Penn's Jessica DiMauro – a one-time national champion herself – in the championship round of the Constable Invitational at Jadwin Gym Sunday. Last year, Johnson defeated DiMauro in the national final.

"It makes me feel like my work paid off," said Beaver, who had lost 3-0 to DiMauro in two previous matches. "I wasn't supposed to win."

Next time the two meet, however, that may not be the case.
