News & Notes: New U. of Missouri interim president named following protests

Former law professor Michael Middleton was announced as the interim president of theUniversity of Missouri on Thursday after Tim Wolfe and Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin stepped down voluntarily on Monday as a result of campus-wide student and faculty protests at the school’s Columbia campus, according to CNN.

The protests were the result of a series of reportedly racist incidents that occurred at the school this fall. A number of African-American students reported being called racial slurs on campus, and a standoff ensued between these students and the administration when the administrators took time to respond to these incidents.
