A sophomore from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was found dead in her dorm room on Tuesday, VCB5 reported, citing an email sent to the student bodyby MIT President L. Rafael Reif to the MIT community.
Phoebe Wang, a student from Chesterbrook, Penn., was found dead in her room in a residence hall in Cambridge, Mass. Wang was a student in the mechanical engineering department, and worked in the school’s music library.
“It breaks my heart to tell you,” Reif wrote in the email. “The death of a young person is always a shock, and in recent months we have lost too many of our cherished students and dear friends.”
The university did not release the cause of Wang’s death, but law enforcement officials said that the incident was not considered a criminal matter.
