Breaking: Acting executive vice president granted permanent status

Treby Williams’84, the acting executive vice president,will take on the position permanently, University officials announcedMonday. Her permanent appointment, which was approved at a Nov. 16 meeting of the Board of Trustees, goes into effect immediately.

Williams hasfilled the positionsince former Executive Vice President Mark Burstein left it in June. Burstein wasinstalled as presidentof Lawrence University last month.

After receiving her bachelor's degree in history from Princeton, Williams earned a law degree from New York University and worked as an assistant U.S. attorney in New York and New Jersey. She also worked for Coudert Brothers, an international law firm that went bankrupt in 2006,as reported by The New York Times.

She has worked in the Office of the Executive Vice President since 2007. Prior to that, she worked in the University's Office of Development Priorities.

Williams will report to University President Christopher Eisgruber ’83, who said in September thatshe was not a candidatefor the position. The University hired executive search firm Isaacson, Miller to conduct the search.
