What's Hot on Campus?

Festival: LAWNPARTIES

One of the biggest (all right, the biggest) events of the year is fast approaching — get your bro tanks, guest tickets and prepster swag on for spring Lawnparties! Featuring '90s cover band The Bayside Tigers, California indie rock band We are Scientists and headliner Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, this spring lineup is sure to knock your Sperries off. Don’t forget to hit up the Nomad Pizza truck and ice cream truck, as well as the Rita’s Italian Ice, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and ice pop stations as promised by USG and the Student Events Committee. The event will also feature roaming photographers, so be sure to dress to the nines — whip out your Lilly Pulitzer dresses, your Brooks Brothers bowties and whatever else you got — Sunday’s Lawnparties is the place to see and be seen this week.

Theater: Quipfire! Houseparties Shows!

Before you head out to Prospect, check out Quipfire's prospects as a contender for the Tony Awards. They will start with some shortform to get the laughter rolling and then take it away with their hilarious and probably harmonious improvised musical. If you missed classics like "It's Okay to Get Divorced" or "What the F*ck is Wrong with Society Today?" from their first musical shows, tough shit because you won't see them this weekend either. BUT you will see something completely original and totally funny coming together before your very eyes. Don't miss out on what is most likely your only chance to see show-stopping numbers about life on a future Earth, two zookeepers wooing each other using only mammal metaphors or anything else that happens to strike the audience's fancy and bring out the inner Barbra Streisand in Quipfire.

Theatre Intime

Thursday and Friday, 11 p.m.

Concert: Princeton Wind Ensemble’s Sounds of Spring and Swing

Whether you are a big fan of the Princeton University Wind Ensemble or are not quite sure what a wind instrument is, the group’s upcoming concert has something to offer you. The Wind Ensemble will play a lively and diverse mix of music, including songs from Benny Goodman, "Chicago," "The Lion King" and  "Harry Potter." Take a break from studying to sit in a cozy chair in beautiful Richardson Auditorium and enjoy the performance offered by these talented musicians. Just a few days after Lawnparties, we know that you’ll be having music withdrawals, and this concert is a classy, fun way to satisfy them.

Take a study break during reading period and head over to Alexander Beach for the Indian festival of color, Holi! Organized by the South Asian Students Association, the event is just like tag with water guns and powdered dye added to the mix. Not only will you look like a work of art at the end of the day, you'll also be able to hatch various evil schemes to bombard all your friends in all the colors of the rainbow. Be sure to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty (or that you want tie-dyed).
