Pirates rally to topple Tigers

Despite drawing first blood, the men's soccer team was unable to overcome a spirited second-half comeback by Seton Hall, conceding three goals as the Tigers were downed, 3-1.Princeton (3-6-1 overall, 0-2-0 Ivy League) returned to the field Tuesday afternoon after an unscheduled break with a trip to face the 20th-ranked Pirates (10-2-2). Coming off a two-match losing streak, the Tigers were eager to leave their misfortunes with last week's rain and seemed on track to do just that when senior midfielder Ben Young found the back of the net two minutes shy of halftime.Senior forward Darren Spicer confounded Seton Hall's defenses and set up the ball for Young behind the Pirates' line.

Tigers unable to defend tourney title in Philadelphia

With leaves and shrubbery blowing onto the greens this Sunday at the Big Five Classic, one of the few saving graces for the golfers was a Penn State golf coach with a backpack leaf blower clearing the way for putts.Looking to defend its title at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, men's golf was once again plagued by its inability to post a decisive and strong finish as the Tigers finished sixth at the end of the weekend.

Tigers win pair but fall to Johns Hopkins, Navy

Despite winning two games over the weekend, the men's water polo team came home disappointed because it also notched two losses.Losses to Johns Hopkins and Navy contrasted with wins against Salem International and George Washington and resulted in the fact that Princeton will not enter the Southern Championships with a top ranking.The Tigers (15-8 overall, 7-3 College Water Polo Association) started the weekend with an upset loss to Johns Hopkins (17-6), 15-14.Though Princeton enjoyed a five-goal lead at the start of the fourth quarter, the Blue Jays were able to record six tallies to send the match into overtime.Tied at 12, Johns Hopkins posted three goals, two by driver Win Bates and one by utility James Singleton.
