Less than a week since the University’s ban on scooters, e-bikes, and other Personal Electric Vehicles (PEVs) went into effect, about 80 vehicles, all of them scooters, have been confiscated. The ban came into effect on Jan. 25, four days before the start of classes this semester.

Ahead of Street Week, Colonial Club announced a new tactic on Tuesday to recruit sophomores: early sign-in, which allows students to begin having meals at the club from the beginning of the semester. This comes as sign-in clubs anticipate increased demand from the Class of 2026, the University’s largest graduating class ever.

Two eating clubs and a brick wall near the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment were vandalized with pro-Palestine and anti-Israel graffiti on Dec. 23 and 24. Princeton town police are investigating the occurrences as a possible “bias incident,” according to Lieutenant Thomas Lagomarsino.

Last week, a group of students and faculty released a petition calling on the University to disassociate from companies with ties to Israel’s military activity and presence in the occupied West Bank and blockade of Gaza. The petition also calls on the University to develop affiliations with Palestinian “academic and cultural” institutions, while dissociating from corresponding Israeli institutions.

In the first year of the University’s expanded aid policy, which covers all tuition and fees for most families making up to $100,000 annually, the University has also seen an increase in another statistic: delays. Over 200 undergraduates’ financial aid awards were delayed this academic year, with some awards still outstanding four weeks into the semester.

Ten of 11 artifacts seized from the University Art Museum (PUAM) are set to be returned to Italy. A March search warrant by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office authorized the seizure of the objects. Six of the items were loaned to PUAM by Edoardo Almagià ’73, a Rome-based art dealer who has been investigated for smuggling activity over the past two decades.

Dean of the College Jill Dolan will step down on June 30, 2024, the end of the 2023–24 academic year, the University announced Thursday. She plans to take a two-year sabbatical and then retire from the faculty, where she serves as a professor of English and theater, in 2026. Dolan is one of the best-recognized administrators among students and one of the most accessible members of the administration.

On May 28, Imani Mulrain ’23 stood on stage in front of dozens of peers as the student speaker at the Pan-African Graduation Ceremony, one of the many affinity graduations that cap the end of Princeton’s semester. She had been awarded honors in the Department of Chemistry and was a member of a number of student groups.

Legal scholar Dr. Saskia Stucki announced her withdrawal from the University’s Fung Global Fellowship last month, citing sex discrimination as the cause of her departure. Stucki, who discovered she was pregnant shortly after her acceptance into the postdoctoral program, has made several allegations against the University surrounding the process of negotiating terms of her parental leave and subsequent childcare.

At a conference on Friday, May 5, executives from oil and gas companies British Petroleum (BP) and members of the University’s Carbon Mitigation Initiative (CMI), an academic research program within the High Meadows Environmental Institute, were met the sight of students lying on the Julius Romo Rabinowitz (JRR) atrium floor with their mouths duct-taped and eyes closed.
