On March 22, All-Ivy senior linebacker Liam Johnson announced his decision to commit to the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) following his decision to enter the transfer portal on Feb. 1. Johnson, the 2022 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, will use his fifth year of eligibility to join the Golden Bears squad.

On Friday evening at Jadwin Gymnasium, the Princeton Tigers (22–3 overall, 10–2 Ivy League) beat the Columbia Lions (13–12, 4–8) 84–70 after falling behind early in the first half. Six players — all five of the Tigers’ starters and Dalen Davis off the bench — hit double-digits, with Davis scoring a career-high 16 points.

Fresh off a big win against then Ivy League leading Yale (18–8 overall, 9–2 Ivy League), the Tigers men’s basketball team (21–3, 9–2) traveled north to play against Harvard (13–10, 4–6) and Dartmouth (5–19, 1–10) over the weekend. Coming away with two massive wins, the Tigers moved into a three-way tie with Yale and Cornell atop the Ivy standings with only three conference games to go.

The Ivy League season opened for Princeton women’s basketball (11–3 overall, 1–0 Ivy League) last weekend versus the Cornell Big Red (6–7, 0–1) with a resounding 79–38 victory. Traveling to Ithaca, the Tigers defeated their first conference opponent of the season in a familiar fashion: through the dominance of senior guard Kaitlyn Chen and sophomore guard Madison St. Rose.

Senior guard Kaitlyn Chen just could not stop scoring against Villanova (6–4 overall, 0–0 Big East), ending the Dec. 11 away game with a career-high 31 points and rallying the Tigers (8–3 overall, 0–0 Ivy League) to victory. Princeton battled back and forth against the Wildcats to grab the win in a chaotic last minute of play.

The men’s basketball team (7–0 overall, 0–0 Ivy League) is off to a red-hot start this season. The Tigers triumphed against the Bucknell Bison (2–7 overall, 0–0 Patriot League) 85–71 on Wednesday, thanks in large part to a dominant second-half performance.

On Wednesday, Nov. 22, Princeton men’s basketball (6–0 overall, 0–0 Ivy League) continued their red-hot form with a dominant display on the road against the Old Dominion Monarchs (2–3 overall, 0–0 Sun Belt). On Saturday, they followed up this victory with another win over the Northeastern Huskies (3–4 overall, 0–0 Colonial Athletic Association Conference) during their first home game of the season. These wins bring the Tigers to 6–0 for the season, their best start since their 7–0 start in 1997–98.

On Thursday, Nov. 23, the Princeton Tigers (4–2 overall, 0–0 Ivy League) defeated the No. 20 ranked Oklahoma Sooners (5–2 overall, 0–0 Big 12) by double digits, 77–63. As the Tigers emerged victorious in their first game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off tournament, it marked just the fourth win ever for the Tigers against Top-25 ranked opponents in program history, and the third win against ranked opponents in the last three years.

Though the Ivy League title was lost, Princeton football (5–5 overall, 4–3 Ivy League) was still fighting. The Tigers dashed the Quakers’ (6–4, 3–4) hopes of ending with a positive conference record in a 31–24 victory and confirmed a fourth-place finish for themselves in the Ivy League standings.
