On Wednesday evening, a Princeton student reported being the victim of a robbery that occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, according to a campus-wide email from the Department of Public Safety (DPS).
The incident allegedly occurred on Elm Drive near Bloomberg Hall, a section of undergraduate housing in Butler College. No weapons were involved.
The TigerAlert email, sent at 10:17 p.m. on Sept. 3, reported that the student notified authorities of the incident earlier in the evening.
According to the email, two unknown male individuals approached the student and touched their shoulder while demanding their money. The email described the first suspect as 5’9” and approximately 160 lbs. with a “thin build” and wearing a dark short-sleeve shirt and baggy pants. The second suspect was described as 6 feet tall, over 200 lbs, with a beard, dark short-sleeve shirt, and shorts.
The suspects closely resemble individuals reported on campus yesterday who were attempting to solicit money, the email continued.
The incident is currently under investigation by DPS. The email urges anyone with information to contact DPS.
In Princeton, two other robberies have been reported recently: The robbery of a $2,000 E-bike on Witherspoon Street on Sept. 1 and a series of shoplifting events at an unidentified store on Nassau Street in which approximately 325 items worth about $5,987 are believed to have been stolen between April 9 and Aug. 30.
Both investigations are ongoing. There is no information connecting any of the robberies to one another.
