Football: Princeton 21, Penn 14, end 3rd quarter

After three quarters at Princeton Stadium, Princeton leads Penn 21-14 in a battle of Ivy League leaders. The Tigers took the lead early in the period on a five-minute scoring drive, which culminated in a 21-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Connor Michelsen to junior receiver Roman Wilson.

Princeton took a six-point lead late in the first half, but the Quakers regained the advantage with a 14-yard touchdown pass from Billy Ragone to tight end Ryan O’Malley with less than two minutes left in the period. Michelsen led the hosts down the field in the final minute, but freshman kicker Nolan Bieck’s 32-yard attempt was blocked as time expired.

Princeton’s offense earned at least one first down on every one of its first-half drives, but the Tigers did not reach the end zone until the second quarter, when sophomore quarterback Quinn Epperly threw a three-yard pass to senior tight end Mark Hayes to tie the score at 7-7. Minutes later, Michelsen threw a short pass on fourth-and-2 to sophomore tailback Will Powers, who raced to the end zone for a 30-yard touchdown.

Both teams entered the game at 3-1 in Ivy League play, tied with Harvard for first place in the conference. The winner will keep a share of the league lead.
