Halfway through midterm week, what better way to recap the Princeton sports season so far than with ... a midterm?
Unlike most Princeton exams, this test will not leave you in a state of shell shock. The questions are hard, but the answer key is conveniently located at the end of the test. Additionally, you are encouraged to violate the Honor Code repeatedly as you take this exam by collaborating with those around you and by referring to the answers whenever you feel the need to do so.
1)Only one Princeton team has defeated all seven Ivy League opponents this season. Which team is it?
2)Led by sophomores Liz Costello and Christy Johnson, the women's cross country team hopes to defend its Ivy League Heptagonal Championship title from a year ago. The men's team also hopes to win a second straight title after tomorrow's race in New York City. When was the last time each team won consecutive championships?
3)Which member of the men's soccer team leads the team in goals this season? For extra credit: Name the only player to have multiple goals and assists so far this year. (Hint: They're not the same person).
4)The football team will take on Cornell tomorrow night at 7 p.m. under the lights at Princeton Stadium. When was the last time the Tigers played an evening game at home, and what was the outcome?
5)Two Princeton golfers have recorded rounds under par this season. Name them. (Hint: One is male, and one is female)
6)Which Princeton team hopes to win its third-straight league title this fall, and how has its season gone so far?
7)Which member of the men's water polo team scored four goals in the Tigers' 10-8 comeback win over Harvard? (Hint: He also leads the team in goals scored this season).
8)Two Princeton coaches have led their teams since their inception. Name one. For extra credit: Name the other and both sports.
9)Which two Princeton boats finished first in their collegiate divisions at last weekend's Head of the Charles Regatta?

Answers:
1.Since Sept. 29, the women's volleyball team has knocked off Penn, Columbia, Cornell, Yale, Brown, Harvard and Dartmouth, in that order. The Tigers are currently in first place at 7-0 in Ivy League play.
2.The women's team last repeated in 1980 under coach Peter Farrell, who has been with the team since 1978. The men's team last defended its title in 2000, the final year in the team's run of five straight championships.
3.Senior captain and forward Kyle McHugh leads the team with six goals this season. Standout freshman midfielder Brandon Busch is the only player to record multiple goals and assists this season, with two of each.
4.The last night game played in Princeton Stadium took place on Sept. 15, 2007 against Lehigh. The Tigers lost that game 21-32.
5.Junior Susannah Aboff has fired three rounds under par this season to lead the women's golf team in scoring in all three tournaments this fall. On the men's side, sophomore Juan Candela recorded a first-round 71 at the Gopher Invitational this September to lead the Tigers in that event.
6.The field hockey team hopes to complete a three-peat this fall and secure its 13th crown in the last 14 years, an unparalleled stretch of dominance in the sport. Princeton's recent 1-0 overtime win over Harvard guarantees it at least a share of the Ivy League title.
7.On Sept. 29, senior Zach Beckmann led the Tigers with four goals in their win over Harvard. His 59 total goals are tops on the team so far this season.
8.Peter Farrell has led the women's cross country and track and field teams since their inceptions in 1978. Glenn Nelson has led the men's volleyball team since its inception in 1979 and has been the varsity team's head coach since 1997, when men's volleyball was made a varsity sport at Princeton.
