Princeton draws Virginia

A year ago, the Tigers upset the Cavaliers, 8-7, before falling in overtime to Dartmouth in the quarterfinals. Junior midfielder Katie Lewis-Lamonica's fourth goal of that game with two minutes, 14 seconds remaining proved to be the game winner.

Princeton lost 9-7 at Virginia on Mar. 24 but has since gone 7-3, including Sunday's dramatic win over Georgetown. The Tigers' tournament status had been in doubt heading into the contest, but their upset of the Hoyas ensured Princeton a berth.

The winner of the Princeton-Virginia game will play the winner of North Carolina- Richmond in the second round.

Barron to Baylor

The joint resignations of softball head coach Maureen Barron '97 and women's basketball head coach Richard Barron were predicated on the latter's acceptance of an associate coaching position at Baylor University, the Department of Athletics announced Monday.

Maureen Barron stepped down to accompany her husband to their new home in Texas, where she will be able to spend more time with the couple's three young children.

Under head coach Kim Mulkey, the Baylor women's basketball team won the 2005 NCAA Championship and has been a part of March Madness for four consecutive years.

Six Tigers honored

Six Princeton tennis players garnered All-Ivy honors, the league announced Tuesday. On the men's side, sophomore Peter Capkovic and senior Sratha Saengsuwarn earned first-team and second-team honors for singles, respectively.

On the women's side, junior Ivana King and freshman Melissa Saiontz — who alternated between the No. 1 and No. 2 spots this season — each earned first-team honors for singles, while senior Darcy Robertson and freshman Sarah Huah earned second-team honors for doubles. Robertson, also the Tigers' No. 3 singles player, was also awarded an All-Ivy honorable mention in singles.
