Anderson, Perlman for USG

Few can argue that student government has the potential to achieve meaningful changes and benefit the entire campus. Yet USG elections often pass with little fanfare and student debate. This year, we have seen more interest than usual among students — sparked by a diverse field of candidates and active campus groups.

While it is easy to get lost in all the information, debates and meetings during this campaign, we hope you will consider our opinion. Through our unique role of covering campus news daily, we can evaluate platforms and add to campus discussion.

Josh Anderson '04 presents the best opportunity for effective leadership during the next year. He has proven himself in the U-Council and his work on precept reform, where he ultimately achieved policy changes.

Looking to the future, Anderson is passionate, innovative and strong-minded. Too often, USG officials seem content to identify problems and discuss issues, but fall short of making concrete proposals. Anderson has proposed specific ways to transform campus dialogues on race, intellecutallism and athletics into meaningful recommendations for change.

To overcome apathy toward the USG on campus, the next president will need to involve new voices and engage more student groups. We believe Anderson can change the USG mold that, until now, he has fit and restore the affability and strong voice the USG and the campus seek.

Jacqui Perlman '05 has the ability and the vision to be vice president of the USG. Her experience is second to none, as she has served as the USG secretary for the past year. He colleagues praise her organization skills and responsiveness to questions.

Leading the USG Senate is a difficult task, one that requires a strong understanding of the USG and a strong personality. Perlman best fits this role.

We hope you will not only vote in this election, but also remain active in campus affairs. The 126th Managing Board
